Wet/dry strength resins

3F Chimica produces a wide range of anionic, cationic and amphoteric resins to improve the wet and dry strength of various types of paper.

These resins increase the mechanical strength of the paper product, while reducing the use of amides and synthetic cellulose. This is an advantage as amides and synthetic cellulose increase the COD (chemical oxygen demand) and BOD (biological oxygen demand) of the wastewater.
In addition, these resins allow a mixture of raw materials to be used (short fiber, long fiber, virgin fiber, pulp), enabling a considerable reduction in raw material use.

Due to their ionic affinity, resins bond to the fiber rather than remaining dissolved in water. This makes it possible to avoid overloads in the primary and secondary water loops and fosters efficient use of the product.

The wet strength resins increase the wet strength of the paper both temporarily and permanently.
Several of these resins allow repulping of the production waste.
A few of these resins are AOX (adsorbable organic halides) and chloride-derivatives free.
