Products for Yankee cylinders

3F Chimica produces a wide range of chemical products employed as surface treatments for Yankee cylinders. The Company customizes product formulations to meet customers' specific needs. These types of products are used to reduce and resolve various problems. They protect scrapers and, more importantly, the cylinder surface. They also control sheet adhesion, which affects the creping ratio.

This product range features three types of products:

• Coatings: cationic synthetic polymers that form a protective film (coating) when they come into contact with the hot surface of the cylinder. These products differ in their reaction times and their degree of adhesiveness as they pass from a liquid to a solid state. These properties must be considered when selecting the most appropriate product for the application conditions.
• Modifiers, which are divided into two subcategories:
  

   

  • Active ingredients that modify the coating's structure, making it softer, more "plastic", and less sensitive to variations in humidity along the edge of the sheet;
  • Mixtures of inorganic salts that improve coating adhesion and enhance cylinder protection. Several different formulations are available to ensure compatibility with the physical-chemical characteristics of the feed water.
• Release agents: oily mixtures of plant-derived esters that form milky emulsions in water. Upon contact with the cylinder's hot surface, they revert to their original structure and migrate towards the surface of the coating, where they create an oily film that facilitates sheet release.

In order to select the product that will provide the best results, the following water parameters must be taken into consideration:

• temperature
• hardness
• pH
• presence of chlorides
• presence of impurities
